Do you wish to pass along your Christian worldview onto your child? I do. I have struggled to find a specific way to work with my children on how God wishes them to live their live’s. Apologia Educational Ministries has a wonderful set of books on Christian worldview that helps you do just that. Pass along your beliefs in a specific logical way. We reviewed the textbook, journal, junior journal, and coloring book for What on Earth Can I Do? a Biblical Worldview of Stewardship by John Hay and David Webb.
The textbook is divided into 8 sections:
- Your Story or God’s Story?
- Who Put You in Charge?
- Will You Be Found Faithful?
- Where is Your Treasure?
- Where Does Your Time Go?
- Whose Life is it Anyway?
- Why Isn’t it Easy Being Green?
- What Happens When the Master Returns?
Do everything without complaining and arguing…. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God.

My son (age 13/grade 6th-ish) worked with the What on Earth Can I Do? Notebooking Journal. He wasn’t thrilled having to write out things about his ‘bible time’ because we have not done this before. But he did so when I asked. In the end he was happy that most of the writing was done in the journal for him. He just needed to read and write out his answers. Even as a grumpy guss he learned a lot and did more work than he thought because he was following along the reading, journal, and discussion.
Next little one helping review was my daughter (age 9/ grade 3). She had a What on Earth Can I Do Junior Journal to work with. The amount of material to work through was slightly less and not as difficult as my son’s. Such as there are fun learning puzzles and crosswords to do. Her puzzles were at a level of difficulty that stretched her but did not frustrate her.
**A very special moment happened during this review. My youngest daughter has low tone hands that frustrate her and leads to half written work. Coloring pages that aren’t completed. Then we started this series and she got so enthralled and excited about the first page of the book she colored it ALL! She said, “It tells me Jesus loves ME!” Yes, dearest he does!
I made a few adjustments for our learning issues along the way. I had to break down a couple of lessons that had longer reading sections into 2. My kids found it too much to intake in one setting. That wasn’t a big deal at all since this curriculum is not designed to use everyday. I had leeway to adjust. I also made a few allowances on what all they had to write out. While using the journal helped tremendously on not having to write out a huge amount there were a few times writing definitions and prayer requests etc that it got to be too much. Again this was easy to work around I had my son draw pictures or have my write in the prayer requests. I was more focused on us working towards a more Godly outlook than doing lots of writing.
There are 4 books in Apologia‘s What We Believe series. This is the fourth book. The good news is you are not constrained to using the series in a row from 1 to 4. You can start where you feel your family most needs it. We will finish up the 4th book and then look to the other book this fall to continue learning a Christian worldview in a well laid out manner.
- Who is God?
- Who Am I?
- Who is my Neighbor?

I firmly believe that as a Christian parent you need to lay the foundations of love, thoughtfulness, and Godly principles in your child when they are young and follow it through. The What on Earth Can I Do? Biblical worldview books help you begin/continue that conversation. A foundation based on God’s word using the What We Believe series is a stepping stone towards the productive Christian adult we are striving to raise!
What on Earth Can I Do? a Biblical Worldview of Stewardship is a wonderful tool to teach your child(ren) biblical worldview! There are many perks such as being able to teach a large family with one curriculum rather than multiple books for each age. Reading aloud as a whole family and lively discussions the material encouraged. Journaling and coloring for many ages to reinforce the learning. The What on Earth Can I Do curriculum was a delight to review and will be continued through all 4 books in my home.
