The whole family got to review Time 4 Learning! The children Beautiful 5/6 grade, Squire 3rd grade, Smiley 3rd grade, and Flower PreK. This quickly became a family project so I will start with the children in their own words.
“I liked it! I learned about women’s sufferage.” -Beautiful
“Little bit of fun…no, a lot of fun the games were cool.”-Squire
“I liked the books I could read.” -Smiley
“I liked playing with the coloring.” -Flower
The consensous from the kids is they liked it. Beautiful my 5/6 grader has dyslexia and ADHD. The fast paced highly visual format worked great with her. The only slight problem was that there was a lot of reading involved at the sixth grade level. There were videos and read along text, that was her favorite part. There was also the option to adjust grade levels up or down.
I was able to change the grade level, time of work/play, and see exactly what was being worked on and how long. You can print off the material in a report card fashion, for record keeping purposes. I really enjoyed the complete openess of the program. It helped me to see where the kids strengths and weaknesses were.
Smiley who has difficulty writing, due to cerebral palsy, used the program’s Odyssey writer. She was able to write essays, reports, or creative stories much easier than by hand. She also greatly enjoyed the games (which some are education based as well), and the variety of material.
Here is my one problem with the lower elementary and upper elementary program. It is written from a evolutionary stand point. I had to closely watch over the science material and the social studies material. While most of the program is fine and leaves out mention either way. There are sections that I feel as a conservative christian are inappropriate.
Happily the Pre-K section seemed to have no problems in that area. I loved the Pre-K because my 4 year old daughter was able to move around in her section. She was able to work with coloring, patterns, and simple life concepts. She loved it and begs for her “mouse time”. I didn’t have to print off tons of worksheets to get what she got on the computer easily.
Overall I recommend this Time 4 Learning, with the caveat I stated before. I found the overall program to be easy to use. Fun for the kids. Tech friendly to those of us who need short and sweet. Also the price is low, especially when I think of the cost of all the books and pages my Pre-K daughter would have gone through to accomplish the same amount of work.
For full disclosure we were chosen to review this site and upon completing a review I will be paid a small fee for posting our honest opinion.
