Basic start-up for this online science program is rather simple. Sign in username and password. Go to your member’s page. There are a variety of options such as Topics, Grade Levels, Parent Resources, and more. There I listened to the video to understand how Aurora designed Supercharged Science and wants you to use it.
You have two basic options Grade Level and Topical. I have long felt that science is a subject that doesn’t have to be bound by grades. A kindergartener can understand the concept and basics of magnetism even though more traditional science might hold that off until 3rd grade or later. Science is such a kinetic subject that many kids are attracted to it and the ideas, science concepts, and facts can be put into memory much easier even if you have a learning difficulty because you are teaching in a multi-sensory way.
I did notice that there were a lot of emails sent by Aurora. You don’t want to miss them. There is a lot of information and great things that you might miss out on if you don’t open them. I found that if you make a folder for the emails from the very beginning you can keep them all in one spot and not miss out on something important.
There were printables available that I looked and tried to incorporate but my son was very reluctant
“I won’t touch them ’cause I’m a boy “. 🙁 nope that excuse does not compute…
I was worried that with his foot dragging he would not get some solid science learning in. Supercharged Science must have known my son was coming. The videos of many experiments and then for each topic and grade level there are MANY more experiments listed. Let me be clear MANY experiments!
My son was happy doing experiment after experiment. The little girlies (ages 6-11) that weren’t going to be helping with this review just couldn’t let big brother have all the fun and soon we had everyone from my teen down to my 6 year old participating and learning about science. Does a homeschooling momma heart good to see a room full of bowed heads as they tried to attach a hair to create a hydrometer.
I was pleased to see that on the members page it isn’t all how to work the program, grades, and paperwork. There are informative articles and videos for you the homeschooling parent. Support and a fresh perspective to help your whole homeschooling life.
Overall the Supercharged Science e-Science Program took a bit more time to adapt into our own but it is more complex with more material. The list of experiments alone would have me hooked. I love that the scientist behind this lovely program is a woman that truly LOVES science. Her sheer enthusiasm shines and my kids responded to it! Supercharged Science is a very kinetic hands on science centered program that is a wonderful option for homeschooling families!
