Every year we put up a tree that we add leaves to each day. One per person at least. Someone or something you are thankfull for. You can write a scripture. The littlest ones get extra big leaves to draw a picture. By the end of the month the tree will full of all these wonderful thoughts and ideas.
Thanksgiving dinner after the meal we pull the leaves down and take turns reading them. Last year we put all the leaves back up again and the Thankfullness Tree stayed up until February.
Here is the trunk of the tree, just waiting for leaves!
Quick run down on how I made the trunk. I got light weight pvc and made the tree shape. I used heavy duty duct tape keep the pipes in place. Then I twisted paper and made the trunk. I taped or glued the paper into place. Finally when the glue was set the kids helped paint the trunk brown and black.
Here are some printable leaves that you can use to make your own tree!
Usually for scripture we write it on index cards. It’s makes it much easier to write out on lined paper and the index card is small enough, thick enough to make it through the season.
I hope you chose to join me in creating a household of thankfullness! God bless my friends!
