Today was day 2 of our unit study on Dolphins.
The kids were in the groove today. We ended up going over our normal homeschooling time by hours. I had to put one little one’s items away when they went to sleep still working on it! The kids used ALL my extra worksheets that I had printed off for the week. It was a great day and we got a ton of work done.
Today the focus was on anatomy and another specific dolphin. Geography of where all in the world dolphins live today and were they used to live. We read several books through the day. My daughter read us the Bible so we could determine which day of creation dolphins were created.
We also watched several videos that were awesome! I knew dolphins were smart but wow! The things they can do as a group is outstanding.
We all decided that we would not want to be a surfer trying to figure out if the shape in the wave was a shark or dolphin!
Tonight I am going searching for even more additional crafts and worksheets! Download N Go is a rated K-4 and my oldest is a 8th grader. To adjust the unit to match her level I am going to have her write a report (rough draft, editing, and final report.)
The freedom of unit studies and in this case lapbooks are each child puts the information that they know and can concretely remember and tell you about. Such as there is a lapbook folded book on colors. My little one (4 years old) is trying very hard to understand colors. When she colored these pieces today she would finish and say “and a dolphin is pink, and a dolphin is gray…” She was really understanding and attaching the information with dolphins!
