Today I with my happy helper super kindergartner have reviewed PowerCapes.
PowerCapes are custom superhero capes for kids. I was able to pick the color, letter, design and extra sparkle for the my happy helper’s cape. When it arrived in the mail I got to see the cape for about 4 seconds. Then giggly screams of joy and super hero was launched.
My daughter has PDD-NOS so I was not sure how she would take to the cape. She does not come up with her own imaginative ideas well. She generally relies on those she is playing with to guide the play. I deliberately got only her a cape. I wanted to see, would this encourage her imagination. It did!
She was so excited even days later that she came up with a twist on the older kids game. She said she would swoop in and save the baby. On her own!!! If you have an autistic child you know how happy that made me!
Two thumbs up for kicking the imaginative play into gear. The cape itself is made of a heavy duty satin. It is surged all around so there are no sags or threads shredding. The throat opening is generous and it is cut to sit well on the shoulders. The only gripe I have (happy helper said nothing about it) is the Velcro closure are two rectangle pieces and I wish the edges were rounded. The letter on the back and the sparkles attached are sturdy and firmly attached.
