Hot off the presses is a new book by Sonya Haskins, Homeschooling for the Rest of Us.
Homeschooling for the Rest of Us: How Your One-of-a-Kind Family Can Make Homeschooling and Real Life Work
By Sonya Haskins / Bethany House |
That name may sound familiar because just a couple of years ago she also wrote The Homeschooler’s Book of Lists. Mrs. Haskins has a comfortable, easy to read style, that made this book a joy to read.
So have you bought into the need for a perfect family? Perfect house with a gourmet meal at every sitting? The children that are on Good Morning American talking about how at 10 years old, they helped broker a peace treaty while completing their third degree… calm and be at peace. You have found the book to help set those fears at ease. Mrs. Haskins does not let you out of your responsibility to parent and tend to your child, instead she brings a needed balance.
Homeschooling for the Rest of Us covers topics such as; Why are we homeschooling in the first place? How to navigate the everyday learning. Do I use a Co-op? How can I get it all done? Mrs. Haskins has an interesting and thoughtful look into homeschooling. There is a chapter devoted to special needs homeschooling! She touches on the extra stressors that are put on us and we put on ourselves.
In all the book was just lovely. I really enjoyed it and would highly recommend it to any homeschooler. If you are a veteran homeschooler this book can help you refocus and gain perspective. Are you beginning? This will help you see the traps before you even come near them! Informative and well written! Great job Mrs. Haskins I am eagerly awaiting your next journey into writing!
Honest note: I received this book for free to review it.
