“Time to learn about music my little one!”We got to try an online music curriculum for young learners, KinderBach at Home, In Home Piano Introduction for Young Beginners in Home Educating Families. This was a FUN review for us. Hubby and I were musically oriented students choir, band, orchestra… you name it and if it had swing we were in the group.I have raised all my kids with music and dance. Musicals are theme music for our trips. Now with KinderBach I was able to show, listen too, and work with music and beginning piano.Not the musical type? That’s okay. There is a Parent’s Guide and the lessons are aimed at walking your child through nice and easy. You will be able to assist and guide your child through this music curriculum.

There are 6 levels of work, 60 weeks worth of material. I am very pleased that so much is covered note values, rhythm, tone, and so much more. Your child will gently be guided through the very basics of music up through a solid beginners knowledge. When done your child will have a firm foundation of music and piano.

The format that we reviewed was their online home program. There was a cute upbeat video to watch. Printables to reinforce what she was learning. Then when Maggie moved up she began using our keyboard to learn simple songs like Twinkle, Twinkle and more.Maggie was very good at learning about music. Highs, lows. Louds, softs. And like most young kids was great at beating out a rhythm. She was able to go through one or two of those early lessons at a time. When using a keyboard was introduced she had to slow down.Her fingers didn’t work quite as fast as the lessons. That wasn’t a problem. We were able to slow down and go at her rate of learning and fine motor skill. If you know crossing the mid-line, fine motor skills, or executive function might be a problem allow some lee-way in your schedule. One thing to keep in mind learning piano is a great way to teach and work on weaker skills such as crossing mid-line. Another way to sneak therapy into your overall enriched homeschooling program.Maggie would sit down to listen to her video and color her worksheet mostly very independently. I would recommend printing off all the worksheets and binding them together or putting them in a 3 ring binder. I didn’t, the worksheets got out of order and lost. Just an idea to help you keep things neater and tidier. 🙂Overall this is an excellent way to start learning the piano and create a musical learning foundation for your child. Whether you have a musical background or not you can use KinderBach to help give your child a firm musical foundation from your own home.
