The structure to the year was built this week. I sat down and worked out the subjects and the year dates. What weeks we are going to be working and when we are taking off. Now the specific dates might change as we go but the bones to the year are set.
Now it’s time to open up my planner and get going! I have actually found going through all my stuff that I have several… no I have A LOT of planners and planning printables. Tons. So many that I got flustered with the overload and piled them all on the dining room table and walked away.
I tried going all online planning last year and regretted that decision. As you saw yesterday I am a visual organizer. I need to have a paper book in my hand with highlighted subjects and sticky notes for lists and scripture. I don’t mind adding an e planner but all electronic is just not me.
The winner is…. The Ultimate Homeschool Planner by Debra Bell. Vlog coming to show you why I think so highly of this planner. I want you to see what I am talking about in person.
I have decided to add an e-planner to the mix as well. Marcy Crabtree created the Delightfully Planning, A Unit Study Planner for Every Homeschool Free for Subscribers!
Frankly with 5 kids and 5 separate needs for each subject it takes more than one day to fill out even a two week chart for them. On top of that the long week of organizing, purging, and scheduling has taken it’s toll. I have a fever and feel pretty miserable today.
On the good side I was able to complete enough that I am happy we can start the year on the right foot. I have a list of what we need to buy. All except… World History.
We have used Mystery of History in the past and really liked it. I am looking for a multi-level history program. Suggestions are welcome.
