Wits and Wagers from North Star Games

CAUTION the word Meeple is addictive! Meeples are the little game pieces you get to play the game. Ever since they were introduced I have heard the word Meeple about a billion times! They are cute little critters.
The instructions are clear and simple to learn. This game relies on your ability to estimate and use informed trivia based guesses.
It is recommended for 3-10 players, ages 8+ Skills you will need for this game writing numbers, estimating, some trivia knowledge.
When we played this game for the first time we never got to scoring. I handed out the writable boards and dry erase markers (that come with the game). It ended up with all my older kids ages 12, 10, 7 and 5 playing. And the toddler was happy to sit there with the extra card pretending to play.
I read the question which asked them to come up with a number. They had to either know the answer or estimate what the number would be. That was VERY tough for my Aspie son at first. He is a black/white thinker. BUT in this fun, encouraging game format he kept trying and got noticeably better by the end of the first game! Another skill used is number order.
You need to put the numbers in order from smallest to largest. If the amount was a small number I had my kindergartener help me order the cards. If it was larger I had an older child help me. Again wonderful fun way to work on weaker skills for another child of mine.
This game was a seriously big hit for the kids and for me. This weekend the kids are going to play it at our party! I am very happy for a way to work with math skills that aren’t generally covered in this format.
My kindergartener was so thrilled to be part of this game she asked me tonight as I was tucking her in, “Can we play the Meeple game tomorrow?” “Yes, honey we can.”
