Tiny Planets
Price: A large portion is free. There are keys to buy to unlock premiere sections. The keys are very cheap,
Format: online community
Age Range: 4 to 12
My Tiny Planets-Home port. Where to sign up and sign up your cadet.
Tiny Planets TV– Here you can watch episodes of Bing and Bong for keys (their website currency)
Tiny Planets Learning– Here your young child can learn about letters and numbers.
Tiny Planets Labs-This seems to be the place for the older kids. The oldest I think would have fun with this site would be late elementary.
Tiny Planets Fun– A little bit of everything for fun. Games, coloring pages, puzzles, etc.
Tiny Planets Books– Here you can read interactive books. Your child will most likely need an assist for these books. They are set for a young elementary age and they have odd made up words.
Tiny Planets is not tiny! There is free material, small fee material, online shows, printables, online games and much more. It will take days just looking around much less playing and doing all the activities provided.
I am an older child reviewer. That tends to be middle school and beyond. If I only had a middle schooler or above this is not something that would interest me. This site is meant for the younger kids. My estimation would be 8 years old and below though they list themselves as 4-12. Now as a mom of a small herd I have younger review helper on hand!
My younger kids remembered Bing and Bong on sight from TV shorts. The look of Bing and Bong are so cute and perfect for this space/fun fusion website my younger two wanted to dive right in. Our favorite is Bong the dog like creature. Keep in mind that Bing and Bong don’t talk, so a child with nonverbal learning disorder may find the online shows problematic or with your help a opportunity to learn some non verbal skills.
While I signed up a parent account, super simple. I never got the wrinkles ironed out with the accounts so we did not get to cruise the premiere section of this site. I talked to the computer guru of the house, my husband. The problems is me… I cruise the web on FoxFire and that can cause problems with some sites. We also buckled down hard on cookies. So I apologize for not having a thorough review, here is the link to others on the TOS Crew.
The free content is very large. My 2cd grader and my kindergartner really enjoyed this site. My kindergartner and I worked through a couple of the printables (though I didn’t print them off, too much color). My 2cd grader liked the Labs area which is science based. Together they watched the shows. It was a nice break and computer time that wasn’t a total entertainment throw away. It is low on the educational vigor scale.
I have no problem with the kids going back and playing on this site. It is an enhancement to your curriculum not a replacement.
HONESTY NOTE: I was allowed access to this web site for purposes of reviewing it. In return I give my honest opinion.

Hi. Just wanted to thank you again for reviewing the site. I wanted to let you know that on April 4th the new and improved site was launched. I’d love to hear any thoughts you might have, especially since some of the changes were made because of the Crew’s suggestions. You can check us out at http://www.tinyplanets.com. You can reach me at cheryl@mytinyplanets.com.
Thanks!
