Dear friends after Christmas there was supposed to be a big surge towards a Shiny New Year. The theme was to Revitalize Your Home. Health, homemaking, and homeschooling were all going to get a good look over the month.
Together we were going to start off the year on the right foot.
Then Christmas happened. Not Christmas precisely but a tragedy on Christmas. My BFF could not wake up her son Christmas morning. He died in the night.
I have raised my kids with him. I can remember him getting his braces on for the first time. The tons of trips for broken bands. Then the party getting them off. Mudslides down the hill out back of the house. The gentle and protective way you cared for my kiddos when they visited your home or church.
You always had corny jokes… always with a smile and quip.
My son playing online games AND using my cell phone to talk the whole time. This would go on until a shame faced son would bring me the dead battery cell, and a smile because he had just had a great time with a friend that was completely understanding of his quirks
A little boy that had grown into a Godly young man. I am honored to have known you. My family and I will forever be changed for the better because of you.
And we will miss you.
I will practice what I preach. We are caring for his family. I am helping my kids with limited understanding slowly come to realize that their friends is not going to call today. I am going to focus my energy where it needs to be on my family and my BFF’s family.
I will get back to the Revitalize your Home series as soon as I can.

Heather, I am so sorry for the loss of your friend and of the grieving family. What a tragic Christmas! May the peace of Emmanuel be with you all as you try to piece together all the next steps. And may the joy of knowing hope in an eternal future through Christ also be part of this unfathomable hurt. Praying for you all!!
