A day or two days off blossomed.. For me it’s the busiest time of year, one thing pops up after another. I am not complaining though. The Lord has sent one blessing after another and I am grateful.
I am working hard on some curriculum choices for the fall. I am hoping to begin selling some material that is pointed at helping our special kids. I am also moving towards some wonderful changes in the site and adding another site, The Laurie Family Ministries.
I have noticed some news in the world of education that I wanted to be sure to point out. The Department of Education is asking for a bailout. They are insisting that they will fail and we will lose an entire generation of children if this isn’t passed. Those are strong words, not based in reality, but being used to force your representatives to vote “for our children” or be an ogre and vote against them. We need to see with clear vision what is truly being asked here.
Here is an article on this from FOX
Teachers Seek $23b- Lifeline or Bailout?
One the FEDERAL government is asking for money to sustain educational systems through out the entire country. I don’t know about you but my local school system asked for money at the last election and WE THE PEOPLE said no. You don’t need an extra building or pay raised or blah blah. We need to carefully use the large amount of money you already have frugally and with forethought.
I would point to the governor of New Jersey who is ruffling feathers and standing up to the teacher’s unions. The ideas put forth by the unions make sustaining the education system an endlessly more expensive and larger dinosaur to control.
You would think that our money homeschooler’s and public schoolers alike would be going to high quality teaching and materials. Instead we have teacher’s like the one in Florida that voted out the Kindergarten that had autism, she still has her job. It is extremely hard to fire a teacher, unless that are putting forth christian ideas. Then there is the material used. You have most likely heard about the Texas Text Book war. The back and forth of what version of the truth our children would hear. what!!!!!! The whole thing sickens me. To argue how to spell Barack Hussein Obama’s name is ridiculous. Write what his name is, that is the truth….period…In a local school district they have bought new books for three years in a row that I know of! Think of the incredible cost, 39.00-56.00 @ per student per book. Not including the teacher’s editions or software to go with it or workbooks! I don’t think the world is moving so fast that all the books must be bought new even every three years! To me this is a tremendous waste of money.
I have gone off a bit today, it is pure frustration. Here is WV we are kicking out Mollohan as an incumbent. I can tell you that I and several friends tried to talk to him but no return of phone calls or the answering machine was off. One friend showed up at his office to hand deliver a letter and her with her pregnant belly and small herd of lovely kids were turned away! In general this administration and legislative group has become unresponsive to the people. Even so I am going to try once more to encourage my reps to vote this emergency educational spending bill down. Please if you feel as I do add your voices!!
