We have settled down into a semi regular schedule. I am still worn out from my recent hospitalization but I am getting better each day. The kids, especially the older ones have really stepped up to help me out. I am ever so grateful to have such wonderful children.
We went to Sam’s club and got a long pop-up table that was just high enough to go over my hospital bed. We put it across the bottom and do our homeschooling from there.
It’s a bit hard to get our computer work done since the main computer is in the back room. Also making meals is still very draining on my energy. It can be a hard balancing act between maintaining my household and parenting duties and recovering.
We have done a few things that have helped tremendously.
1) We (hubby) 😉 makes several meals for the coming week during the weekend.
2) Though I am not happy about it we have bought more premade foods than we normally do.
3) Sleeping in is okay. We have shifted the bulk of our work to start late morning and go through to late afternoon.
4) Working on Saturday is not uncommon. Especially if someone is having a difficult time with a subject or getting all their work done.
5) Laying down through out homeschooling seems lazy to me but it is what I have to do. Every little piece of energy I can save, I save!
Last week was a stellar week! We covered about a week and a half’s work. The kids were highly attentive. Progress in reading, math, and logical thinking for my teen showed me that no matter the recent problems we are still moving forward.
Life is not perfect. It isn’t today and it won’t be when the kids grow up. Showing my children now that when the hard times hit to never give up.
Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.
