A child that had a stroke at the age of 2 then again at 7. She has low tone cerebral palsy. She is a wonder and delight to all that know her. When you walk away you don’t remember her wheelchair or pudgy weak hands you remember the sharp blue intelligent eyes and smile that is as wide as the Mississippi.
I may be a bit biased since this delightful girl is my daughter. 🙂
Today my daughter taught me to delight in the hardships our medical difficulties have given us. That when the hardship is over the victory is so much sweeter!
I am just a week out of the hospital. Spent the night last night in a sleep lab getting more testing. After I came home and took a long nap. Attached to my stomach feeding pump my hubby and I started to break down some of the apples we bought. Dearest Gr pushed her wheelchair in next to me and started helping.
Gr’s fingers were sore after one apple but she pushed on. She had a sharp eye to help us get all the seeds and skin off the apples. Then sat with me and timed the Apple, Maple Preserve.
When we were done she and I had to lie down for quite awhile but oh how sweet that Preserve is, flavored with determination. Thank you little one for reminding me that sticking to it has it’s own reward!

Hi Heather,
I have been blessed with two very healthy children, who test my patience on a daily basis! Some days i forget just how lucky i am to have the simplicity of health.
I’ve just started working for an awesome company that provides online educational resources, and through getting to work here, i have had my eyes opened to some truly amazing people out there such as yourself, that i just don’t get to see in my daily life.
Loved the post, and hope you enjoyed the preserves.

You and your sweet family are such an inspiration to me. I get so down at times dealing with learning disabilities and feeding issues, but you remind me that we are capable of so much more than we could ever imagine. Thank you for sharing your story and encouraging so many others!
