Is your child dealing with low vision? or blind? I have found some things that you might find interesting!
New Teaching Tools Aid Visually Impaired Students in Learning Math
What an interesting idea! Putting higher math on small hand held scupltures to encourage those with low vision or blindness into high math learning.
Also I have recently been having a lot of problem with reading and writing. I started sizing up my personal computer without really thinking about it. I went up a size, then another, soon I was reading at 14 font. After some further vision problems I decided it was time to see the optometrist. He saw me and tested me. Off to the Opthamologist he sent me. After a marathon session at the opthamologist I found out that I have lost some central vision. So there is good reason for my strange reading problems. Since I have no intention of stopping reading I need to find a way around my vision problem.
I am looking at the Kindle. It allows for large text sizes. There is a read aloud function. And there are tons of books available on Kindle. Have any of you tried it?
As I was peeking around I also found a few things that a homeschooled child might like.
This is great! Everyone can play together. Grandparents to young children with vision issues. Where I grew up in northern Ohio Friday nights were filled with Crazy Eight games and Gin Rummy that would last for hours.
How awesome low vision Scrabble!
So now I turn to you my friends. I need some help. I know I am missing central vision and there is a strong likely hood that I will continue to lose it. So my friends would you please share your knowledge about low vision. At this point any info is more than I have now. Websites, assistance groups, items that you have found that work!
Thank you for you support!

Hi! I realize this is an archived article, but did you purchase the Kindle? I do have one and I love it! My son has Cortical Vision Impairment, and the title caught my eye. Hope things are going alright for you, would love to hear mom 🙂

Hello! Found your blog from the SNMom FB page. 🙂 There are LOTS of resources out there for homeschooling a VI child, and for VI parents who homeschool. One of the best resources is people doing it. There’s a Yahoo listverv called blindhomeschooler that has a fantastic group of people doing just that.
