thanks for this … I am thinking very seriously of taking my 1st grader out of school to homeschool her. This morning I had an informal meeting with her classroom teacher, who informed me she was extremely concerned and worried about my daughters lack of ability to learn reading and math. I found her attitude singularly unhelpful and was quite distressed. I was searching the web for something insightful and helpful for ME and found YOU!
When I get some time I will check out your website.

My oldest has dyslexia. She struggled for years with the concepts of reading. She is now in her early teens and is reading. We went slow and steady re-enforcing the basics and using specialized programs when we felt she needed them. In the end I think time was our best friend.
Her dad has dyslexia and he was forced to learn on a public school schedule. He hated it. Today he is a college graduate with a great job that hates reading still. We went slow with my daughter so in the end she would still have the love of reading.

She does! I found out recently that she has started reading through the Greek myths because “they are cool mom!”

If you chose to homeschool or help your child learn to read in addition to public school, know you are welcome here!
God bless
Heather Laurie
