When deciding to start homeschooling, special needs child or not, there are a few things that you MUST do.
First you and your husband/wife must be on the same page. Are you both willing to try homeschooling? It is not uncommon for one parent to be hesitant but willing to try for a short period and then reassess. That’s fine! The fine art of compromise is a useful marital tool.
Second you must know the law of your state or country. If you need clarification on the law look to your local, state and country groups for clarification. There are also legal groups that can help you such as Home Schooling Legal Defense Agency (HSLDA) or Home Advantage.
Third you need to get a feel for what type of learning you wish to teach and what type of learning your child can learn best. This one is going to be long term goal. My children have changed several times how they best internalize information. I too have changed styles of teaching. We have covered every style out there at one point or another. That is okay!! Focus on the first 3 months. That will give you time to get use to homeschooling. It will give you a feel for how fast your child moves through material and will high light the ares of weakness and strength you have to work with.
Finally it is time to get the material you need to homeschool for the first 3 months. You can buy it outright. You can borrow some, such at the text and teacher’s books. The library is a great resource that should be an active part of your homeschooling. Read the reviews of other parents to help guide you.
Starting the homeschooling journey is an anxious time. You don’t want to make a mistake. It ‘s different and that can be daunting. Relax is my biggest advice. Learning is natural. We learn everyday. You will just be guiding that learning as you have for years now since your little one was born.
You can do it! I have had a wonderful time homeschooling my children. I wouldn’t have it any other way. Blessings be on you and your homeschooling journey!

We will start homeschooling on march. My eldest is happy about it, my youngest doesn’t want to hear about it. I’m anxious about it.
