Rocking Robots
E-book format
What a great idea for a unit study! My older kids grade 7 and grade 4 heard the name and started happy dancing. Oh yeah, Oh yeah!! They are huge fans of science, Mythbusters, and geeky science fiction films. Just the title started ideas of building robots. What a mixed blessing. So with fear for my home
I pressed forward to study about robots.
Day 1: What Is a Robot?
Day 2: The History of Robots
Day 3: People and Places of Robots
Day 4: Science Secrets of Robots
Day 5: Goodies and Gadgets of Robots
Robots of all kinds, from all over the world. This unit study took us from break dancing robots in Japan to Mars! Did you know that Leonardo da Vinci made a robot?! We didn’t!
This became a fun and creative unit study for us. The older kids didn’t want to make a lapbook this time. Not to worry there were plenty of worksheets. The older kids also branched off the study and started looking up ways to make their own robots. As of right now we don’t have a robot
“To invent, you need a good imagination and a pile of junk” Thomas Edison
This was a great large age range study. My 7th grader enjoyed the study (without lapbook), down to my kindergartner loved playing robot and the coloring pages.
When I do this study again I will print off the robot lapbook pieces using card stock. The sturdier paper makes the pieces longer living.
Cute little things and they have a historical fact on them.
Hands on learning is fun….and memorable!
We all liked this study. Each child took this one to a different place because the subject was so interesting. It kept me on my toes but that’s fine! One of the joys of homeschooling is to see how one thing weaves into another. Over the summer we did an in depth study on Greece, in this study there was a section on the planets. The kids remembered the names of the planets and their Greek god affiliation. Also we HAD to add Pluto back on. Yes, we know Pluto is not a planet anymore but the kids were concerned it might get it’s feelings hurt. hahah
Well the Laurie clan is lovin’ life! Learning in the Heart of West Virginia! God bless my friends and have a wonderful day!
If you would like to read more reviews of Robots. You can also see more Download N Go titles or buy this one if you like.
*NOTE* I was given this study for free to review and give my honest opinion.

hmmmm thinking that when we finish Autumn Treasures we might do this one. Just wondering… do you do just unit studies or other curriculum too? Right now we are only doing units studies in the afternoon for activity time…but I could see myself just moving to unit studies
Just looking for advice
